Recognised as one of the top franchise workshops with an engineering facility in New Plymouth, this company specialises in heavy truck and trailer repairs. They also complete a content of work on other equipment.
The role and responsibilities
This role consists of allocating work to technical staff ensuring the smooth running of the workshop.
The incumbent will also liaise with the service department and will need to be on hand to answer any queries from other departments and customers.
The role is responsible for ensuring all incoming work is planned, then managing the time and resources. The Workshop Controller assigns tasks to technicians ensuring productivity is maximised and that deadlines are adhered to.
As line manager for the technicians, the role holder is responsible for performance management, as well as coaching and development of the team.
Quality checking, ordering of parts, auditing, and compliance as well as health and safety are also important elements of this role.
The skills sought
This is not an entry level role; prior experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreperson, Supervisor or similar role is essential.
You will need prior experience in heavy diesel service operations and have specifically held a similar role or be ready for a step up off the workshop floor.
