Job Description

About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

About the Team

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

The Network and Assets function delivers a range of infrastructure projects and maintenance programs that ensure safe, efficient, customer focused project and program delivery.

The Opportunity

We currently have a permanent full-time role available for a Works Supervisor to join the Network and Assets team within the ROM branch. The role will lead a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of road and bridge rehab and construction works to ensure delivery in accordance with time, quality and scope requirements. Predominately focusing on the Newell and Oxley Highways, you will manage crews based out of Coonabarabran and Moree, so you will need to be located in the Northwest region of NSW and be willing to travel to both sites on a weekly basis.

The Works Supervisor contributes towards the following day to day responsibilities:

Manage team and individual performance to meet pre-agreed time, cost and quality targets, specifications and project requirements by supervising and developing staff

Maintain a diary of daily activities, and other records including those relating to compliance, work health and safety and environment and quality

Manage the risks of assigned work by coordinating the collection, analysis and reporting of performance and safety measures

Assist in the estimation process for works, including the negotiation of prices, monitoring and reporting on specification compliance, safety, traffic management, environmental and quality performance issues, and preparing instructions to the contractor to ensure that all contracts are managed consistently and delivered in accordance with Agency specifications and timeframes.

You are an effective communicator and able to successfully lead and manage crews to operate in a harmonious, productive and well-planned manner.

Your ability to work collaboratively, lead by example and influence others will motivate crews to be innovative and strive to achieve the best outcome for Transport for NSW and its customers.

You’ll be inspired by the opportunity to make regional NSW a better place to live, work and enjoy.
