About the role
The Policy and Guidelines Partner will proactively ensure all policy creation and implementation, policy training, policy interpretation and application meet the evolving needs of the business, positioning Woolworths as an outstanding employer, while managing compliance and risk. In addition:
- Act strategically to develop practical, innovative and creative solutions to manage complex issues.
- Benchmark and set up a framework to ensure Woolworths is best in class for policy standards by looking at industry, research and changes in legislation.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments and stakeholders (such as People Exco members, Safety, Legal and Learning) to improve and implement policies, to create policy and compliance based training as needed.
- Draf, review and update existing people policies and related documents, aligned to the tone of voice and perspective of the Woolworths Group or individual businesses as needed.
- Work with the Employee Relations team to understand key people policy gaps and issues, work collaboratively to utilise policies (where appropriate) to shift behaviours and results.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of IR and the Legal Team to ensure Woolworths Group complies with relevant statutory and legal requirements in respect to people policies and compliance training.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you must have strong influencing skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and rally others around a project or cause. You will have a consultative style and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines. You are an engaging and strong relationship builder and are able to influence at all levels of organisation.
- 5+ years experience in a similar role i.e. policy creation, drafting, implementation
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Very strong writing skills, specifically plain English drafting ability and capacity to translate complex legal issues into straightforward language.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Employee relations or human resource management
- A strong understanding of employment laws, industrial relations and employee relations issues
