Job Description Summary

A full time, permanent position has arisen in our Pensions, Bulk Annuities & Life Legal team. The team has expertise in pensions, bulk annuities and longstanding life and investment products and forms part of the Insurance & Wealth Legal & Secretariat team (“I&W L&S team”).

This role is available full time. We are looking for the best person for the role and are happy to discuss flexible working options.

You’ll have responsibility for commercial and client contracts relating to workplace pensions business, ensuring they align with legal requirements and protect the interests of the business. You’ll be working within a pensions team to provide dedicated and focused advice to deliver the needs of the business.

You’ll also have responsibility for advising on pensions, life and investment products and their administration to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and supporting on related projects.

You'll have the opportunity to support new business tenders and responses and the delivery of complex projects using your legal knowledge. This will be a great chance to input into projects that will have a significant impact for Insurance & Wealth.


What you’ll have:

As a minimum, we’ll need you to be a qualified solicitor with experience in commercial and client contracts or products in financial services. We're particularly interested if you also have a knowledge and understanding of the legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements relating to pensions. Ideally, you'll be a lawyer with pension law experience gained either in practice or industry.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and maintain internal network and relationships to provide appropriate professional legal advice.
  • Assisting with new business on-boarding and negotiation of workplace pensions
  • Assisting with the negotiating, drafting, and reviewing of commercial and client contracts relating to financial services
  • Assisting with the drafting and reviewing of product terms
  • Act as a source of professional expertise providing professional advice as a trusted advisor to our business partners and assist with the development of policy and procedures
  • Support for new business tenders and responses
  • Guide business colleagues on Legal Risk Management using the relevant risk management policy framework
  • Report and escalate on legal or governance issues, inputting to recommended solutions as required
  • Keep abreast of new legal and regulatory developments and deliver training to the I&W L&S team and business as appropriate.
  • Support the Head of Legal, Pensions, Bulk Annuities & Life in discharging his responsibilities.
  • Proactively challenge, advise and influence business stakeholders on legal issues as far as affecting the  pensions life and investments business.
  • Look for opportunities to champion change, inclusion, and improvement.
