What you will do

To lead the warehouse team including despatch & goods receiving, to also manage external freight providers, arranging collections from supplier & also shipments to customers, ensuring customs clearance declarations are accurate. This is a new role, and it will report into the Materials Manager.

How you will do it

• Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards, ensure you are a role model leader
• Through the utilization of lean manufacturing techniques, strive to exceed the Company targets in productivity, efficiency, and quality on a continuous basis
• Lead by example ensuring a safe and efficient workplace
• Undertake performance management responsibility for your team, conducting appraisals and giving direction to aid good performance
• Ensure safe working practices are maintained and ‘Standard Operations’ adhered to at all times
• Ensure that non-conformance is challenged, and countermeasures are agreed upon and implemented with relevant training support as required
• Lead and motivate the team to create a high-performance organization where improvement suggestions are embraced
• Contribute to the improvement of working procedures by constantly maintaining Continuous improvement mindset
• Seek the most profitable mode of shipment yet meet customer's requirement for the movement of freight.
• Prepare documents necessary to complete export, import and customs clearance process. Track and trace cargo as necessary to insure proper movement and delivery.
• Motivate and coach the team to operational success

What we look for

Essential

• Experience of working in a busy production environment
• Team leadership or supervision experience
• Flexibility and a proactive approach
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
• A full counterbalance forklift truck licence

Preferred

• Experience of working in the automotive industry or a JIT environment would be beneficial to your application.
• Experience in delivering continuous improvement initiatives
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
