Job Description

At Microsoft, we’re building a culture based on learning: We want to know what our customers want and what’s going to make their work and lives better. Innovation only happens when we really understand our customers. That’s where you come in. Azure’s #CloudDesignStudio is looking for a researcher who’s driven by empathy for customers, and the need to know how to serve them better. And we need you right now, because we’re building one of the fastest-growing, highest-impact technologies in the world today.

Edge and Platform Experiences (EPX) is a multidisciplinary team in Cloud Design Studios designing the next generation of edge computing, application and infrastructure observability and productivity, and cloud-based media services.  We help large enterprises use Azure however and wherever they need it: in the cloud, on the edge, all at huge scale. In our team, we nurture a collaborative culture where everyone can flourish, learn, innovate, and make a positive impact every day. The team is comprised of diverse teammates who believe in the power of inclusion, diversity of ideas and people, and the sheer joy of solving hard problems.

We are seeking a motivated, creative researcher who’s obsessed with understanding customers and excited about the cloud. You’ll work closely with multiple disciplines to deliver the next generation of experiences for Microsoft Azure. You should have experience with a broad array of research methods and activities. As your product team creates new features, you’ll help them make decisions based on data and user perspectives. You bring your skills to your fellow collaborators with optimism, a retractable ego, and an open mind.

Join us, and you’ll be a part of a passionate community of UX professionals, working on some of the most exciting products at Microsoft!

Responsibilities

You have strong research skills and have toolkit of research practices and methods. You know how to deliver meaningful insights for a specific product, and how those insights can apply to other contexts. You are detail-oriented and thorough, but flexible enough to work within time and product constraints. Most importantly, you’re a passionate advocate for our customers throughout the development process and can prove how good user experience leads to business value.

Qualifications

Apply now!

We’re a fast-growing team and we want people who bring all kinds of experience to the table. If our list of qualifications doesn’t quite match yours, don’t let that discourage you. Apply anyway! We want talented, passionate researchers who can point the way to the future of computing. If that’s you, let’s go.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience conducting user research.
  • Experience with a broad range of research methodologies (usability studies, interviews, surveys, card sorting, etc.).
  • Experience generating research plans.
  • Ability to define and track user experience metrics.
  • Coordinating work on multiple products/releases.
  • Ability to effectively communicate rich customer data and articulate the implications of research findings in clear and compelling ways.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within tight timelines and with excellent project management skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a complex product space with ambiguous challenges.
  • A high-quality portfolio review presentation is required to interview for this role. Your presentation should demonstrate your research experience, rationale for methodologies chosen, and communication skills.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
