How would you like to play a leading role in the world class, multi-talented, multi-disciplinary UX team, responsible for bringing BBC News to millions of audiences across the world?
Now is a great time to join the BBC News digital team. Over the last four years, we have doubled the reach of the News site and apps in both the UK and globally. Our ambition: to make the leap from one-size-fits-all to a modern, personalised digital news service that is important, relevant and useful for everyone, every time they use it.
You’ll work closely with a wide range of disciplines, from engineers to editorial, helping to craft and evolve the BBC News offering to meet the needs of our growing audience. You’ll be a key contributor to delivering value for our users regularly, and shaping what we build using research and data.
We're looking for UX Designers for this important and impactful work, and be part of the BBC UX&D community. To learn more about UX&D at the BBC, have a look at our GEL (Global Experience Language) website, where you can check out some of our videos with the teams: https://www.bbc.co.uk/gel/articles/about-bbc-uxd
Your portfolio is full of consistently strong work across different screens and experiences - be they on mobile, connected TV, tablet, desktop of connected device.
You’re fascinated by people and what motivates them, and you relish the challenge of bringing your skills to helping solve their problems and craft delightful designs for them. You understand the value of collaborating in cross-discipline teams, and you can switch into a facilitation role to get teams energised.
Your brain might tend towards wireframes, user flows and personas. Or layout, colour and typography. Either way you’ll have heaps of skills you can use to create the ideal user experience. Maybe you’ve even got something special up your sleeve, like you’re an amazing illustrator, motion graphic designer or prototype builder. Our team’s made up of a diverse range of people, skills and experience, so we’d love to hear about you and yours.
You’re enthusiastic, curious and full of ideas. You see every new situation as a chance to learn something new. So you love trying your hand at the latest design trends and technology developments.
Whether you learned your skills on a design degree or on the job, you’re comfortable applying them to whatever situation arises. And you’re keen to broaden those skills by trying out whatever new software and devices come your way.
