We have around 1.2 million customers and serve over half the FTSE 350. Our customers range from big household names, government departments and public service organisations right through to small businesses and new start-ups. We cover both the communications and IT services markets. Overall we’re focused on four main product markets: Fixed Voice; Mobility; Fibre and connectivity; networked IT services provided over the biggest UK network in both fixed and mobile communications. We also provide network IT services to corporate and public sector organisations in the Republic of Ireland.
Our Wholesale business helps communications providers (CPs) and other organisations provide fixed or mobile phone services. Our ventures provide mass-market services like directory enquiries and payphones, and enterprise services including Fleet Solutions and BT Redcare. We also offer specialist enterprise services to our Internet of Things customers.
Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) is a key sales channel for BT, and an exciting segment in Enterprise, putting focus on small and medium business customers. Our purpose in SME is to be the engine for growth for UK small businesses, ensuring they have brilliant solutions to help their businesses thrive.
It’s an exciting period of growth for SME, and as we establish our new Enterprise operating model to achieve that growth, this role will be critical to support the delivery of our business transformation plans and goals. Drawing on knowledge of industry best practice, and working closely with internal and external experts, our channel architecture specialist roles will be responsible for designing new and improved end-to-end sales processes, that underpin a best in class sales operating model, and best serve our customers through the full breadth of sales channels – including digital, desk, retail, field, and indirect partners.
You'll have the following responsibilities
In this role you will be working alongside senior stakeholders to drive our highest strategic priority in the SME channel aiming to deliver a fundamental transformation in the way our sales teams operate today. Working with external partners such as Salesforce & Deloitte Digital you will lead the design and development of improved processes, tooling and systems that improve sales productivity and performance.
Delivers consultancy and conducts analysis for projects, identifying and implementing opportunities for simplification, efficiency and enhancement to deliver business process improvements, customer satisfaction, cost reduction and revenue growth.
Conducts testing of processes against agreed specifications, corporate standards, architecture and methods, and makes recommendations for process / procedural improvement.
Applies business process management tools, techniques and methodologies to evaluate existing processes and effectively deliver business process improvements.
Specifically in this role: -
Accountable for documenting current, end to end sales processes, and assessing issues, gaps, and opportunities to improve these processes for the future SME operating model.
Map and design future processes – firstly to be tested in an incubator environment, and then deployed into in life operation.
Complement own expertise with industry insight, to produce necessary inputs that shape and build recommended process design.
Collaborate with stakeholder across SME, Enterprise, and BT (up to and including Senior Manager level) – to ensure brilliant outcomes for colleagues and customers. Stakeholders include, but are not limited to:-

You'll have the following skills & experience
Process mapping and design – strong end-to-end process mapping and design skills; knowledge of process interaction with systems interfaces – an Agile methodology accreditation, CI accreditation, or similar is desirable.
Systems thinking – provide technical expertise to evaluate the impacts and links between structure, people, process and technology, by thinking through the whole systems context, and new perspectives and insight, before taking on projects.
Improvement focus – collaborate to identify how work activities across teams are related and highlight inefficiencies; help to remove barriers and make recommendations on the resources or support needed to improve processes.
Business partnership and consulting - establish working relationships with stakeholders and build a rapport to become a trusted advisor; identify strategic issues and raise questions to help stakeholders explore and understand wider business challenges; recommend solutions to help team and stakeholders achieve their objectives.
Handles complex and difficult situations with thought and confidence: comfortable in the absence of direction, and role model effective delivery of outcomes, even during times of ambiguity, risk, and emotion
Begin and ends with the customer - role models that customers are the reason why we have a business; places the achievement of excellent customer solutions at the heart of the organisation.
Analysis and Validation: Apply a thorough understanding of data validity and related risks to critically assess complex business analysis. You guide others to follow processes to ensure that conclusions have integrity and identify and follow up on potential issues.
you would be expected to have:
3+ years relevant industry experience
Knowledge of B2B sales models
Working knowledge of inside sales models desirable
Experience working on commercially sensitive change programmes
Experience mapping and designing multi-discipline processes that flow across CFUs
Made decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions
Actively participated in strategy setting sessions
To suit the needs of a customer, colleague or client; moved outside of expected process or practice colaborated successfully with people from other business locations or functions
