Job Title: Transaction Manager (Surveyor / Senior Surveyor)

Location: UK

Role Purpose: 

The role is within the Shell UK Retail account team in Contracted Accounts, a key service line within Advisory and Transactions. Whilst the role is based in the UK market, Shell Retail is a global account which affords access to the wider Shell and CBRE real estate community allowing the individual to draw on the experience of other markets and share best practice.

The individual will provide real estate support to the Shell UK Retail business with the delivery of targets relating to Shell’s energy transition. The key focus area at present is electric vehicle charging as Shell continues to create the infrastructure and retail network required for the adoption of electric vehicles over the coming years.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Oversee the delivery of transactions which support the roll out of electric vehicle charging infrastructure on the client’s estate in line with Shell’s multi-year plan 

• Manage the CBRE brokers who are responsible for executing the existing pipeline of EV related transactions 

• Assess the feasibility of proposed schemes and having regard for matters such as tenure, boundary issues, existing tenancies and restrictions/covenants

• Internal and external stakeholder management - working in conjunction with the wider Network team within Shell UK Retail and third-party contractors to deliver the programme

• Negotiation of new leases for site specific transactions across the UK and third-party consideration payments where wayleaves/easements are required

• Working with solicitors to ensure transactions are delivered in line with the plan

• Provide input into framework agreements and negotiate template lease documents which underpin strategic partnerships between Shell and third parties 

• There is scope for involvement in further transactional work, such as acquisitions and disposals

Person Specification/Requirements

• Chartered Surveyor or equivalent

• Highly organised and exceptional attention to detail

• Experience of negotiating transactions from the initial heads of terms stage to legal completion 

• Understanding of landlord & tenant legislation 

• Team player who is also self-motivated and has a willingness to learn 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internal and external to CBRE
