Introduction:
Boeing Defence UK is developing state of the art training equipment to support the UK MoD Defence Operational Training Capability (DOTC) called Gladiator.
We are looking for Systems Support Specialists to support the day to day operations and maintenance of the Gladiator Core Systems and Services (GCSS).
The role will be based in the new, custom built facility at RAF Waddington, near Lincoln.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience in the supporting synthetic training equipment, servers and networks.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting the customer in the operation of the system, communicating system limitations, trouble shooting and operator best practice.
Expertise in the use of the Gladiator core software tools such as VR-Forces, VMWare, JIRA and others.
Administer servers; troubleshoot server and network problems, maintenance of system security, administration of user’s system access controls and monitors system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, reconfiguration, and modification of the Training Devices, and all other electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems as directed by the senior on-site staff.
Accomplish system initialization and checkout; system operation for extended periods; rapid fault diagnosis and correction; data logging, and system shutdown.
Maintain system documentation and records as required including DRACAS.
Perform general pre-operations, post-operations and configuration of training systems.
Provide on-site logistics support, including managing spares and consumables, organising repairs and monitoring obsolescence.
Support major system modification or fault rectification, which may requiring manual handling and lifting, and limited working at heights.
Work Authorisation:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
Required Qualifications:
You will be a generalist, expected to have broad working knowledge of the core technologies but will be supported by the On Site Development team and Off Site support (including industry partners) as required.
Knowledge of one of more of the following technologies including; VT MAK products (VR-Forces, VR-Engage, VR-Vantage etc), RedHat Linux, VMware, Microsoft Active Directory, Skype, and CISCO network administration would be desirable.
Some occasional travel to remote sites may be required.
