Trade Mark Attorney
The Trade Mark Attorney is responsible for helping transition the TOPSHOP, TOPMAN, MISS SELFRIDGE and HIIT brands to ASOS. This is a role where you will be heavily involved in the both the transfer and developing additional protection and enforcement strategies for the new brands, working closely with colleagues in the IP Team and key stakeholders.
You will be…
Assisting the IP division of the Legal team with the following activities, all relating to the new brands
Recording the transfer of ownership with all relevant IP offices
Conducting gap analysis in protection, making recommendations for additional filings (including building cost estimates) with minimal supervision and approving TM filings at UKIPO, EUIPO & WIPO
Dealing with prosecution for the brands, including drafting submissions and statements
Reviewing and documenting the history of key settlements, co-existences
Conducting clearance for products and potential sub-brands
Developing a brand protection programme for the new brands, working closely with external providers
Building a library of evidence
Trade mark oppositions and cancellations –
preparing warning letters / statements / arguments – working closely with local counsel
approving oppositions to be filed at UKIPO + EUIPO
Assisting with the appointment and management of external trade mark agents / suppliers, including (i) managing the quality and quantity of the work carried out by external agents and (ii) helping to secure direct discounts and fee deals
We’d love to meet someone with…
Junior trade mark attorney experience (at least 2 years PQE, or more junior if you have significant experience) – we are looking for a qualified Trade Mark Attorney
An approachable and adaptable manner to ensure excellent communication and interaction with the wide variety of different people and personalities within the unique environment of ASOS across all levels and geographies.
Although previous experience of working in a fast-growing, agile, adaptable in-house commercial environment would be an advantage this could be the perfect first in-house role
