Technical Writer for Client Hardware and Software 119364

The Role:

Technical documentation is an integral part of AMD’s product and is considered a critical deliverable. The primary goal for this role, and the Client Technical Documentation department in general, is to develop and deliver correct, complete, clear, consistent, and timely documents for technical audiences. This role requires flexibility, tactical agility, and the capacity to adapt to changing requirements and schedules. This role requires the ability to work with a broad spectrum of people from across the company in a dynamic environment. Ensuring quality while meeting tight schedules is an essential part of the role.

The Person:

This role requires that you possess strong critical-thinking skills and provides you with the opportunity to excel and greatly influence editing, reviewing, and publishing processes. The candidate must also have a passion for technology and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver correct, complete, clear, consistent documents to meet program schedules
• Adhere to the processes followed by the Client Tech Docs team
• Work across the engineering organizations to write about hardware and software
• Participate in the implementation and migration to a new content development tool and new customer-facing web portal
• Ability to work on multiple documents concurrently
• Work with minimal supervision
• Work across the company with various key organizations outside of engineering, such as Product Marketing, the Law Dept, and IT

Preferred Experience:

• Excellent writing, copyediting, and communication skills
• Technical writing experience in a technical field (Engineering or Computer Science background is not required, but strongly desired)
• Experience authoring in FrameMaker
• Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience authoring in DITA XML in a component content management system (CMS) is a plus
• Familiarity with x86 architecture is a plus
• Familiarity with the components that comprise personal computers is a plus

Academic Credentials:

• BA, BS, or Associates degree
