The Technical Writer – Control Manual’s tasks are to gather knowledge from various subject matter experts and be responsible for the documentation and assembly of these processes in the Line Maintenance, General Procedures Manual (LM GPM).  Proactively collaborating with operations business unit managers and stakeholders, this role will align process standards, integrating standard operating procedures and safety principles into Air Canada operations. The Technical Writer – Control Manual will be required to work with stakeholders to ensure there is continuous development and improvement in their area of the business.  This role will also work with the Manager, QA and SMS programs in order to ensure the LM GPM complies and is produced as per the Control Manual standards.  

• Document processes and standards and produce regular revisions of the Line Maintenance, General Procedures Manual 
• Work with subject matter experts and Line Maintenance stakeholders to support the teams by process mapping, using Business Process Management standards.
• Participate in reviews of operations processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements / redesign, service level improvements and standardization.  Utilizes lean methods for evaluating process health (i.e. Process Cycle Efficiency, Throughput, Rework, Lead Time, Defects).  
• Contribute to the transition towards cloud-based programs and electronic tools and templates that support process management and health evaluations.
• Work with the business to ensure Process Manuals are current and new processes are properly documented and communicated. Support the development and implementation of required operational procedures and processes by proactively identifying gaps and addressing them with the business.
• Collaborate with Operations Excellence and Learning and Development Teams on process challenges and support requirements.
• Expand knowledge of new/different industry Best Practices.

Qualifications

• Employees must be knowledgeable of the Canadian Aviation Regulations and other applicable regulations and standards to ensure continued compliance of the Manual
• 2+ years demonstrated experience with Business Process Management.
• Ability to cultivate strong collaborative working relationships.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience mapping cross-functional business processes and facilitating process mapping sessions.
• Strong Process Management skills and a passion for delivering results.
• Must be able to travel 
• Inquisitive, always on the lookout to improve process efficiency, service levels and standardize operations.
• Documents Process Mapping in Visio, and/or other Business Process Tools – Advanced Level.
• SGML experience
• Excel, Windows, PowerPoint, – Advanced level.
• Flexible and adaptable.
• BPM / Lean Concepts / Value Stream experience an asset. 
• Lean 6 Sigma qualifications an asset
• Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination Required.
