EE’s Technology Labs within TSDD provide our customers with the best Mobile Telecoms Network Test Facility in the UK, enabling development, testing and integration of world-class solutions, on the best in-class environments.

You'll have the following responsibilities

• You will support EE Technology Labs’ Mobile Value Added Services components – helping our Testers, Designers and Operations to work together to make EE & BT’s fixed and  mobile services the best in the UK.

• You will ensure the timely availability of robust and proven test environments, building against a defined standard and ensuring appropriate connectivity between systems both internally and externally, applying appropriate security.

You'll have the following skills & experience

The role requires good skills and experience of the session, call and mobility mechanisms within a mobile core network – providing both mobile and fixed line services. You will be – 

• Working with multiple technologies and resolving complex issues inevitably found.

• Carrying out your role in alignment with established (ITIL based) process and procedure (Fault Management, Change Management, Configuration Management)

• Provision of robust test environments in a timely manner.

• Align with ITIL and ISTQB best practices.

• Driving efficiency in the working practices of the entire team.

• Influencing Management and budgets in order to improve the facility

You will have both the technical skills and proven experience to provide 1st and 2nd line support  in one or more of the following areas. 

• Experience on Erlang based applications

• SDM product line such as Nokia AAA/ OneNDS 

• VAS applications such as voicemail, billing gateways, messaging etc.

• Location Based Services

Ideally you should have skills and experience with 

• 4G / WiFi access technologies plus an appreciation of the evolving 5G landscape.

• Network Function Virtualisation

• Tracing tools e.g. Wireshark, NetScout

• IP Networking

Nice to have 

• Experience on PCRF (Huawei or Oracle)

Non-technical requirements of the job role:

• You will work with both offshore and onshore Environment Managers and Support Engineers using your skills and knowledge to configure and support parts of the core network.

• You will support our Testing community – using OSS fault-finding when issues are found, working collaboratively to provide solutions.

• You will drive good practice – ensuring the Labs community follows process around fault management, change management and configuration management. 

• You will have skills and experience to own and drive the lifecycle of each defect raised, managing the work flow across your team of engineers.

• You will drive the ongoing production of documentation of the EE Labs’ environments – recording these into EE Labs’ Knowledge Management systems.

• You will provide technical support, understanding how your decisions impact on other areas within Technology Labs and ensure that the knowledge accrued is documented, guiding, developing and training other support engineers.

• You will develop additional areas of knowledge and expertise to widen the overall Technology Labs understanding of how all technical components work together, being recognised as a technical expert in multiple areas.

·       You will be proactive in driving the remedial work required in order to maintain the test estate in order that it is more usable by the wider integration, test and development communities driving improvements in the team’s working and technical methods.
