THE ROLE
The Technical Operations team within the Faculty of Science and Engineering is seeking a suitably qualified Technical Officer, to provide technical operations support to teaching related Civil Engineering activities, as well as the technical support of teaching and research laboratories and the delivery of practical classes within the School of Engineering.
The role is responsible for managing and maintaining Civil Engineering equipment and suppling the appropriate training, supervision, and risk management for its operation while providing general laboratory support to the teaching and research staff and students of the School of Engineering.
As the successful applicant, you will be actively engaged in implementing, monitoring, and maintaining processes, procedures, and documentation related to safe equipment operation, the maintenance of equipment, and the support of teaching and research in support of school needs.
About You
You will have completed an advanced diploma or a degree in Civil engineering or closely related discipline, or have an equivalent combination of experience, education and training. You have good problem-solving skills especially in relation to technical and experimental issues. You build rapport quickly, and your collaborative approach to work enables you to create strong relationships with your colleagues. You have a strong service focus, are agile, and manage time and resources effectively to prioritise and deal with issues as they arise. If you are an excellent communicator with a proactive nature and are flexible and resilient in your approach, then this is a role you will thrive in.

The team covers a broad range of capabilities and expertise across laboratory, specialist facilities, and field-based activities that are essential for the smooth functioning of research within the faculty.
