About the role
As a WorkSafe Inspector, you will have a vital role working across the Health and Safety Business Unit (HSBU) in ensuring that workplaces meet their health and safety obligations. You will assist and advise employers, supervisors and workers on how to make workplaces safe and undertake enforcement action to ensure compliance with health and safety laws. You will assist Health and Safety Representatives, Unions, Employer Groups including ARREOs, and Employer Representatives in their role of representing workers and employers on Occupational Health and Safety issues.

- You will utilise expertise to manage complex, high profile or high risk interventions, to provide support, guidance and co-ordination of activities to other field employees and the provision of authoritative advice where required
- You also will utilise recognised area of expertise to provide specialist advice and expertise to the field team and stakeholders in relation to appropriate legislation and its application to workplace Health and Safety Representatives, Authorised Representatives of Registered Employee Organisations (ARREOs), employer representatives and other duty holders
- You will Educate workplaces and employees about the importance of health and safety broadly, issue resolution and consultation more specifically
- Finally, you will Ability to make on the spot decisions regarding next actions, interventions or next steps and within emergency or at-risk situations

- You also have knowledge of industry standards and codes of practice, work equipment, work practices, standards and operating procedures to support the team and influence and drive compliance
- You also have expertise in Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations and your specific industry sector to influence compliance and to provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders
- You have highly developed influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Finally you will also possess a significant degree of knowledge and expertise in consultation, representation and issue resolution in the OHS Act 2004, which is utilised to provide an effective response to high risk issues/problems and/or provide support and on-the-job development for other inspectors and investigators in relation to subject matter expertise
