As part of our broader Customer Delivery team, your role as a technical consultant will give you exposure to Tier 1 Telecoms Operators across EMEA as you develop your communication and influencing skills, providing them with technical direction and becoming a trusted advisor. Your technical knowledge and capability will grow as you deal with multifaceted customer problems and collaboratively find solutions that deliver unique value.

 

With your passion for ensuring positive customer outcomes and your assurance engaging with technical stakeholders in global enterprises, you will deliver our core network design services, commissioning and migrations, contributing to product quality and delivery process enhancements.

Who are Azure for Operators?

 

AfO is our hybrid cloud solution for operators that helps our customers deploy, secure, and monetize their network services across Microsoft Azure and other platforms in a multi-cloud environment. AfO is building a team to help mobile operators take advantage of the innovation unleashed by the introduction of technologies such as 5G, Software Defined Networking / Network Function Virtualization, Edge Compute and the next generation Internet of Things.  

Responsibilities

Your technical knowhow and ability to communicate complex topics in a clear and an accessible way will have you managing highly visible customer engagements and providing guidance underpinned by data to inform our customer’s decision-making. Some of your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Creating deliverables to address customer needs and support our strategy, sharing intellectual property with colleagues. 
  • Running customer and partner meetings to understand and define their requirements 
  • Participating in project planning and develops project documents by identifying the risks and dependencies proposing mitigations.
  • Assists project managers/architects in preparing for steering committee. 
  • Manages their schedule and communicates to project leads.  
  • Managing escalations and coordinating appropriate resources to resolve issues by following delivery practices, considering cost implications, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Identifying opportunities to articulate business value and grow customer/partner relationships in alignment with business priorities and stakeholder management principles. 

 

Qualifications

Comfortable interacting and consulting with customers, you will be a capable communicator who can engage with people on technical topics, as well as understand and articulate the operational and commercial impact of the technologies they are adopting.

 

To further position you for success in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

 

  • Experience deploying or supporting packet core networks in a technical support or consulting role
  • Practical knowledge in two or more of the following technologies: 
    • routing protocols like OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), etc.
    • 2G, 3G, 4g/LTE, 5G/CUPS (Control & User Plane Separation) and associated external interfaces, OSS/BSS (Operation Support and Business Support) systems,
    • MCC, MME (Mobility Management Entity) , vEPC (Enhanced Packet Core), PaaS (Platform as a Service)
  • Regularly mentoring, coaching, and managing other consultants
  • A background of steering and delivering projects from start to completion
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting Linux based systems. (desirable)

 

Our customers are distributed across Europe, Middle East and Africa, and on-site work will be required.  Work life balance is a high priority for us, and we generally expect 0-25% travel. 

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
