Systems Researcher - 96262

The Role:

AMD Research is an entrepreneurial research organization with a strong track record of driving research innovations into AMD products. We are a global leader in the development of the world’s most advanced high-performance computers (HPC), such as El Capitan, the world-leading 2 exaflop supercomputer. We are seeking an architect and systems researcher with experience in distributed systems, interconnect, and advanced memory architectures. You will be researching and prototyping distributed system architectures for next-generation high performance computing, data science, and machine learning platforms. This role requires a broad set of system integration skills including software development, FPGA integration, and operating systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• System and software integration, test, and experimentation for distributed systems, disaggregated and multi-tiered memory, system interconnect
• Drive optimization technology for ML, HPC, and Cloud applications
• Work with partners and customers on cutting-edge ML, HPC and Cloud systems
• Communicate with key internal and external partners.
• Write reports and research publications.
• Drive the results of the research projects into product roadmaps.
• Submit patentable inventions.

Preferred Experience:

• Performing successful system research and development
• Experience with system control software and OS interfaces
• Experience with FPGA prototyping and integration
• Track record of issued patents that are embodied in successful products.
• Experience collaborating in a geographically distributed team (AMD Research has sites across North America).
• Passion to push the limits of computing on cutting-edge platforms
• Dedication to solve complex problems, and not take no for an answer

Additional Experience Desired:

Demonstrated evidence of two or more of the following skills is a big plus:

• Distributed system architecture and integration
• FPGA prototyping and image management
• Prototype building, testing and debugging
• Device driver configuration, firmware updating

Academic Credentials:

A Ph.D. or MS or equivalent accomplishments in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field.
