Boeing Defence UK Limited (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,200 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK Defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISTAR Services, Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.

This post is for a Systems Engineer - Chinook Requirements Lead to work within the BDUK Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) function. The Requirements Lead will undertake requirements capture, development and management activities for the Chinook platform, working within project teams comprising Subject Matter Experts from different disciplines across Boeing, its suppliers and its customers. The successful candidate will need to be work very closely with multiple cross-functional SMEs and the MoD Customer, and will be the UK focal point for the coordination of Chinook platform requirements management activities. This role is based at Yeovil or Bristol, with occasional travel to BDUK and customer sites, and options for hybrid working.

Key Tasks include:               

  • Managing the Chinook TLCS-2 core programme requirements baselines including configuration and change control in DOORS requirements management tool.
  • Capturing, developing and managing requirements related to Chinook platform modifications considered to be 'Over & Above' to the core TLCS-2 contract.
  • Managing requirements verification strategies, compliance declarations and evidence gathering activities.
  • Establishing and reporting requirements related metrics.
  • The tailoring and application of engineering initiatives, best practices and quality processes.
  • Contributing to Continuous Improvement.
  • Risk, Issues and Opportunities management.
  • Contributing to technical planning activities.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • A Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an engineering related field, with experience in requirements management for systems and / or services.
  • Proficiency in DOORS, or other requirements management tools, is essential for this role. The ability to perform DXL coding would also be advantageous.
  • Experience in Project Planning; Excellent SE knowledge and skills, Good IT skills; Excellent Customer Facing Skills.
  • Knowledge of the Chinook or other rotorcraft platforms.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems/avionics.  
  • Registration with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (IEng or CEng), or have the ability to work towards IEng/CEng.
  • Knowledge of Military Airworthiness Authority (MAA) Regulatory Articles.

Work Authorisation: This position does not have sponsorship approval. This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship
