System Security Architect- 126242

 

The role:

AMD’s Client System Development team is looking for a System Security Architect to architect, design, and integrate system security solutions for AMD products and innovative next generation systems based on them. You will augment a team of proven security focused feature architects and developers to help eliminate attack points and improve user experience and resulting overall system security. You will work cross functionally with platform security, software, firmware, and hardware development teams as well as our customers to innovate our security solutions. You will be asked to envision new and evaluate and address existing security vulnerabilities as they are detected, architecting, and developing the resolution, as well as drafting the CVE and determining accurate CVSS scores.

 

The person:

We are seeking a professional with proven industry experience bringing system level security solutions to market. The candidate will have proven experience defining threat models, evaluating attack surfaces, combining high level SW, low level SW, and HW features to provide robust defenses and mitigations. The candidate will have experience in cloud, OS, application, and embedded firmware and pre-boot environment (eg: UEFI, CoreBoot). Experience with industry common practices in vulnerability detection and mitigation is critical.

 

The architect will engage as an active teammate, provide leadership to developers, and always be ready to take on new challenges. The architect will drive design reviews, firmware quality improvements, and architectural discussions.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Experience with computer architecture.

  • Experience with pre-boot (e.g., UEFI), embedded firmware, or device driver development.

  • Experience in hardware/software interfaces and debugging sophisticated issues in CPU and firmware using JTAG, source code debuggers and other tools.

  • Experience with security related technologies such as Secure Boot, TPM, AES, DES, RSA, AMD Secure Memory Encryption, AMD Secure Encrypted virtualization.

  • Experiences working with RTOS and other embedded OS environments.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working on systems engineering or personal computing platforms.

  • Proficient in software engineering practices.

  • Experience with DDR, SPI, eSPI, I2C, LPC, and PCIe.

  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines, responding to changing business and technical conditions with minimal direction.

  • Ability to bring together diverse engineering teams, perspectives, and ideas to a cohesive architecture and execution plan

  • 10+ years System Development experience including SW and FW development expertise

  • 5+ years of experience with security threat modelling.

  • An understanding of recent public industry security exploits.

  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.
