The EU Design and Construction team is looking for an experienced Sustainability Program Manager who will play a key part in delivering our Net Zero Carbon goals as part of Amazon's Design & Construction Sustainability team. The ideal candidate has knowledge and experience of working in the sustainability field within the construction sector including renewable technologies and focused Construction Management experience is imperative.
This role includes the responsibility for project managing our NZC program initiatives and supporting Fulfillment Center’s (FC), including both existing facilities and any new sites. The Sustainability Program Manager will play an integral role in the development and implementation of the EU facility network infrastructure. This role will analyse and evaluate different scenarios and solutions for our building network to enable us to drive down our building carbon intensity.
In addition, this candidate has to support the standardization of the technical and facility related processes and systems required to operate and maintain these construction initiatives.
This opportunity combines personnel management, organizational leadership, construction management, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management.
It requires a person who can show proven ability in supporting and delivering new sustainable processes within the construction sector. Develop and manage metrics quantifying performance · Provide positive, clear, concise, and transparent cross team communication for all aspects of project delivery · Oversee multiple projects in various locations simultaneously · Oversee engineering review process and lead construction scope review and development with internal operational customers on projects ·
Oversee and facilitate execution of any NZC initiatives involving both existing and new facilities within the network · Enforce contracts and uphold design standards with developers, General Contractors and trade contractors and present formal documentation for approval when required. Facilitate internal teams with internal stakeholders regarding engineering buildouts, IT readiness, and turnover to operational groups · Coach and guide all project teams (developers, design engineers, general contractors, sub-contractors,
internal stakeholders) throughout the full project lifecycle · Establish and operate the information systems necessary for effective scheduling and recording of contract work · Review of designs for conformance to current EU Customer Fulfillment building specifications and standards · Perform comprehensive budget tracking, forecasting, and management of assigned projects · Conduct receipt, review, and analysis of all proposed cost and time change requests as presented by external project teams · Review and guide internally requested changes for validity, impact, and ensure timely and cost sensitive incorporation once approved ·
Lead and/or assist in negotiations with appropriate AHJ entities as required Basic Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Engineering, Construction Management, Program Management or comparable field; or military experience · Experience operating within at least two disciplines within the construction industry, such as General Contracting, Owner’s Representation, Commercial Development, or Engineering and Design, or similar ·
Experience as an Engineer, Construction Manager, Sustainability Manager, Program Manager and other construction related disciplines · Experience as a Program Manager, or equivalent, in the construction industry · Project management experience from due diligence and design phase through implementation and operation . Fluency in English Preferred Qualifications · Degree in Engineering or Construction Management · Proven record of positive and increasing levels of responsibility, job complexity and management performance · Ability to effectively communicate Amazon requirements to various audiences (e.g. senior management, peers, public officials, vendors, etc. ·
