As part of our Young Person’s contract, The Salvation Army provides support and accommodation for young people who are experiencing homelessness, across a range of services in Cardiff. We are in the process of recruiting staff for a newly acquired service – a 6 bed supported house for young people seeking asylum.

We are looking for creative and inspirational Support Workers who will play a key role in delivering support within our successful services. You will be part of the staff team providing a high-quality programme of support which promotes the principles of a Psychologically Informed Environment by building rapport and engaging with the young people who live in our services.

You will need good communication skills, a positive attitude and a high level of motivation and enthusiasm for working with young people.

Key Responsibilities:

Support staff play a key role in achieving successful outcomes for clients. As a motivated and dynamic member of our staff team you will be responsible for the well-being of the young people, providing assistance and guidance through needs-based assessments, trauma informed support and resident case reviews.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience of working with young people
• Experience of completing need assessments and person-centred support plans
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Competency in the use of IT systems
• Respect and compassion
• Flexible approach to work
• Ability to work shifts (including some unsociable hours and weekends)

Please note: You will be mainly based at the supported house for asylum seeking young people and will work across other Cardiff Young People’s contract sites as necessary.  Please also specify the hours of work you wish to be considered for.
