Job summary

A successful Support Engineer on our team will be customer focused and motivated by both individual and team successes. They will be innovative, energetic, and able to adapt to new processes and procedures quickly while handling a high volume of requests and ambiguity. They will have a keen eye for recognizing inefficiency and show strong initiative to simplify processes for their customers. They will be committed, flexible, and have demonstrated the ability to maintain high levels of productivity with minimal supervision.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in Linux system administration - 5+ years
• Experience in automating manual tasks - 3+ years
• Understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP) - 3+ years
• Working independently to resolve challenging technical problems & passionate about finding innovative solutions
• Engineering experience in a large-scale, high-availability environment
• Ability to participate in an on-call rota

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience
• Experience of Linux systems administration - 10+ years
• Experience of systems automation using BASH, Python, PHP, Perl, etc - 10+ years
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networks and architecture - 10+ years
• Advanced knowledge of configuration management systems such as: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or related systems.
• Excellent problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to dive deep into complex technical problems
• Experience managing large server fleets
• Experience in a customer support environment
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
