About this role

As a Supply Chain Planning Systems Implementation Manager, you’ll manage the optimisation of existing (legacy) and the implementation of new systems associated with forecasting, demand, supply and inventory planning, that play a key contributing factor to achieving Openreach’s growth ambition. 

The new system and process design will support one of Openreach’s toughest challenges in sourcing the right stock, to the right place at the right time and cost to ensure we are maintaining our provision of high-quality customer service that will in turn strengthen our brand and position in the market.  

You’ll be the subject matter expert on Supply Chain Planning systems working across all categories to ensure consistent application within the wider Demand and Supply planning team. You will contribute to policy discussion and developments, formulation of business plans, setting standards and procedures, and make key inputs to their areas of accountability across Openreach’s supply chain demand and supply function, including defining, educating, and maintaining standard planning processes across the team.

You will manage and develop a robust set of business requirements, master data attributes and associated processes and take a lead role in the selection process, implementation, and deployment of the new strategic supply chain planning tool across the BT Group on behalf of Openreach.

You’ll also play a key role in the future transition from our existing legacy mainframe architecture to the new ERP (S4 Hana) SAP architecture within all the associated areas that support and facilitate the purchase, receipt and distribution of all Openreach stores items across the extended end-to-end physical logistics network.

The role will lead cross-functional inventory management and operational initiatives. Identify process and systems gaps and identify opportunities and system developments across new / existing systems and project manage through to implementation by partnering with technology, operations, buying, planning, and procurement teams to align them to drive business results.

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Project manage system developments, implementation and deployment within the existing legacy planning systems ecosystem and lead requirements capture, implementation and training for the introduction of the new strategic inventory planning system.

• Own the change management (delivery) process related to the new supply chain planning system and its associated impact on the cultural, system, process, and people aspects of the wider team impact

• Expert user of the system functionality around Forecasting/Demand, Supply & Inventory planning modules within the legacy and new software solution.

• Improve system functionality and master data integrity by implementing suitable upgrades and control mechanisms. Improve system understanding across the Demand and Supply planning team and establish training as required. 

• Lead cross-functional inventory management and operational initiatives. 

• Identify process and systems gaps and partner with technology, operations, procurement, category managers and planners to align them to drive business results.

You'll have the following skills & experience

• Expert in Supply Chain Planning Systems and MS Excel

• Experience of managing change (delivery) programmes (SAP, Oracle, Blue Yonder pr Kinaxis) in a fast-paced environment including cultural, system, process and people impact

• Experience in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

• Expert in inventory strategies and management

• Aptitude for mental agility and innovation, and significant analytical capability

• Aptitude and willingness for learning, understanding complex theories and training others

• High level of commercial awareness and business acumen 

• Excellent presentation skills with experience of presenting to Senior Management 

• Gravitas to engage with senior stakeholders and be recognised as a supply chain systems subject matter expert
