Purpose
Co-op Power’s business model relies on our ability to buy high quality green utilities at a market leading price through contracts with our supply partners, and busines customers
The contractual relationships are complex and of significant value. Failure to manage the contracts effectively would incur significant loss to the business and as such they require stringent oversight
Key to success will be taking ownership of portfolio of utility supply, and customer energy contracts worth > £150M annually, and making sure suppliers and business partners are performing and compliant with all aspects of the agreements

Contribution
- Ensure appropriate contracts are in place, meet the needs of all parties, and always operate in a compliant manner.
- Work with suppliers and customers to understand and measure commercial performance, helping to drive efficiency, innovation and value for money whilst reporting and highlighting any commercial issues or risks
- Evaluate, measure and report on commercial performance through a supplier relationship framework
- Build a collaborative relationship with our national energy suppliers so that they deliver on their contractual commitments and the Group’s special terms and conditions.
- Continuously explore new opportunities to reduce cost and risk
- Identify and partner with suppliers in a way that delivers the supply chain strategy
- Ensure the effective delivery of 3rd party led energy management services to customers in line with the contract
- Work effectively with colleagues in Co-op Power and ‘one Co-op’ functions to make sure that the product and services we supply to our customers are fit for purpose
- Engage effectively with ‘C-suite’ executives in target companies to enable the effective delivery of contracted services
- Oversee the definition and continuous improvement of Power supplier management processes

Empowered to
- The day-to- day management of contracts, subject to the agreement of key success criteria with the MD Co-op Power and the Director of Procurement
- Ability to develop and amend KPI’s and contract success criteria to ensure the effective operation of the contract
- To direct supplier resources to ensure contracts are focused on short / medium term goals aligned to the Group strategy
- Engage with Groups external customers to ensure the obligations of the Group are met by the actions of the customers
- Determines allocation of pre-determined resources from within the Department to achieve plans – subject to approval by MD Co-op Power/Procurement Director
- Establish and manage the relationship with internal stakeholders so that their requirements are understood, and they are kept up to date with progress and performance against agreed plans.
- Work closely with supplier and customer strategic account managers
- Work closely with Co-op’s Procurement Director, Co-op’s Head of Treasury and internal finance and operations teams
Capabilities
- Strong experience of managing complex outsource relationships
- At least 5 years’ experience of the intermediated power market
- Experience of buying energy at significant scale
- Excellent negotiation skills
- The ability to manage dynamic, conflicting priorities from multiple partners internally and externally
- Excellent relationship and engagement skills, and able to confidently challenge and influence up to a senior level
- Customer focus – The ability to understand and interpret changing customer needs and adjust supplier strategy to meet those expectations.
- Respond quickly and effectively as well as interfacing into strategy development
