About Us

Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western's campus community. We work closely with campus partners to coordinate new construction and renovation projects as well as to complete maintenance and service requests.

Responsibilities

The Summer Student will assist in the Stores and Mail Services operations of Facilities Management. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering trades and caretaking equipment and supplies throughout the campus. The Summer Student will also sort, prepare, and deliver mail to Faculty/Department offices and perform light deliveries of furniture or equipment for campus customers. The incumbent will also assist in the warehouse by assembling orders, stocking inventory, performing spot check counts, and other general duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: Currently attending school and returning full-time to post-secondary studies in the fall

Experience: Preference will be given to those with previous experience working in customer service and/or a warehouse/delivery environment using material handling equipment

Skills & Expertise:

  • Knowledge of the Division of Facilities Management and Western University’s campus
  • Previous experience performing physical work
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a respectful manner
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Possess a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Must possess a valid G license and a clean driver’s abstract
