THE ROLE:
We are the ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) design team headquartered in Markham, ON. We focus on the most advanced video decoding and encoding technology and ASIC design technology in the world. We have offices in Folsom, CA and Hyderabad in India.
Our design powers advanced video solution in AMD cutting edge computer chips. The team provides video decoder and encoder design IP (intellectual property) to various AMD SOC (system-on-chip) programs.
The team has 22 highly talented members with rich ASIC design experience. Some of them have more than 15 years in the ASIC design field. The team covers all aspects of modern ASIC design engineering: architectural exploration, logic design and verification, embedded firmware and system engineering.

We are looking for self-motivated intern to be part of ASIC design and verification team in Folsom, CA office. In the past, students have worked on projects that were assigned to senior engineers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sanity and Regression Management: Sanity is a small group of tests to check basic health of a design database. Regression is thousands of tests to fully qualify a design database. Candidate will:
Ensure regular sanity and regression runs and identify failing submission
Identify and report/fix network, disk space, and computing farm issues on time. Daily status summary is a must for active sanity and regression runs
Sharpen problem solving skillset; enhance programming skill for test management automation, statistic collection and reporting; become the expert in database setup and database management
FPGA build and FPGA regression: FPGA stands for “field programmable gate-arrayâ€, a platform used to accelerate logic design verification. Candidate will"
Learn FPGA build tools/flows and build regular FPGA implementation along with design updates
Manage regression running on FPGA platforms
Test debug. Candidate will:
Learn basic video codec design knowledge and perform basic test failure debug to provide failing signature to senior engineers
Find the root cause of the failure in logic design, verification test library or firmware logic
Design and/or verification. Candidate will:
Be assigned with either logic design or verification tasks under the supervision of senior engineers or independently
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Basic knowledge of digital logic design
Handy in Linux script languages such as Perl or/and shell languages
Good C/C++ programming
Solid problem solving skill
Good team player
Basic video decoding or encoding knowledge is definitely a plus.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, or related discipline
