Minimum qualifications:

• Experience with mobile application development or Android framework development.
• Experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction.
• Experience coding in Java.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience building support library APIs in Java.
• Experience with audio and video editing, media processing, transcoding and/or playback.
• Experience with Graphics and/or OpenGL.

The Android Media team works on the developer-facing APIs that power audio/video playback, processing, and related use cases for hundreds of thousands of Android apps.

Responsibilities

• Contribute across the stack, from high-level API design to low-level media processing, and work with the wider Android Media team.
• Collaborate with internal and external app development teams, and engage with the open-source community.
• Make life easier for app developers who are using Android's media APIs, as well as impact a core use case for billions of end users.
