About this role
Leading a team of highly skilled specialists, will play the leading role setting the standards & frameworks required in the SRE function ensuring cross collaboration across multiple technology teams. Will work closely with the Service Assurance team to ensure these disciplines are installed and being adhered to.
Setting the foundations for a future operational model that has SRE principles & innovation at the very heart.
Responsible for the line and performance management of the team and their development goals
You'll have the following responsibilities
• Working with key stakeholders up to Director & MD Level defining and setting SRE principles
• Regular reporting to senior stakeholders up to Director & MD level
• Automation - Defining reusable and reliable approaches for use within BT IT, covering a variety of automation scenarios
• Removing Toil and removing manual repetitive tasks
• Infrastructure - Define and contribute to infrastructure patterns to ensure that SRE Principals become adopted
• Infrastructure - Consult with projects on issues around infrastructure and SRE Principals
• Communications - Provide consistent and complete communications and PR stance on our services, applications and infrastructure
• Collaboration - Working into EA , SA Level to ensure best practice is instilled in terms of operational requirements at the outset – not as an after thought
• Helping to Define & Drive Transformation Opportunities
• Identifying Automation, Tooling & Monitoring opportunities across the Delivery Unit.
• Leading and Coaching a team (direct or matrix) of brilliant people, developing and sharing knowledge.
• Develop and maintain close working relationships with multiple teams across Technology
• Focussing on service Reliability and stability contributing to increased customer satisfaction
• Works with more senior roles and managers to plan long-term project/strategic work, interacting with other senior professionals, team leads and platform managers.
Establish and maintain open, effective communication and clear channels for feedback to enable an inclusive working environment where your team feel welcome to participate and offer different perspectives.
