To achieve this goal, the AMS (Azure Memory and Storage CoE ) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a strong passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

 We are looking for a Senior Development and Validation Software Engineer to join the team. This is a lead role for a Firmware/Hardware Engineer with background in storage devices or storage solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Working with storage devices: SSD, HDD.
  • Working with different interfaces: NVMe, SAS, SATA.
  • Triaging of the storage-related issues discovered during qualification. Initial and in-depth debugging as needed. Working with peer development teams or vendor’s application engineers to drive for resolution.
  • Finding performance bottlenecks by defining experiments.
  • Scripting and tool development to help with automation and debugging.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS./M.S. degree in Computer Sciences or Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of firmware or driver development, validation, or system engineering. Proven software, firmware, or script development skills.
  • Understanding of the storage protocols (NVMe, SAS, SATA).
  • Understanding of the storage device architecture or OS storage stack architecture (Windows, Linux).
  • Hands-on experience with computer hardware. Experience with SSD validation and performance testing and white-box testing is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Storage firmware or storage-related software development experience, or storage scripting experience.
  • Debugging skills. Defining experiments and executing them.
  • Familiar with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in working a SSD development / validation team with specific exposure to SSD f/w development and f/w validation.

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
