Senior Software Development Engineer

 

The Role:

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will be part of a cross-disciplinary team responsible for the user experience of AMD’s graphics products. To this end, you will be charged with researching cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with multiple software functional teams to deliver the best possible user experience to our end-users.

 

The Person:

Our team is looking for a proven C++ developer with prior experience with object-oriented design and development for the Windows environment. Are you an able communicator and can you work effectively in a collaborative team environment? Are you passionate about software quality, and do love to learn about new technologies? If so, we would like to hear from you.

 

Responsibilities:

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and maintain core technologies for innovative applications on AMD platforms.
  • Promptly triage and resolve quality and performance issues raised by customers and QA.
  • Work closely with product managers and teams from other functional areas to gather and document software requirements.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and code reviews.
  • Collaboration with international teams of software specialists.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient experience in C++.
  • 3-5 years developing Windows desktop applications.
  • Proven experience with OOP design and development.
  • Solid understanding of Windows internals.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills to interface with multi-functional teams.
  • Proactive, conscientious, and a team player.

 

Nice-to-have Experience and Assets:

  • Prior experience with Qt and QML
  • Prior experience with multimedia and audio/video processing and streaming
  • Mobile application development experience
  • Knowledge of DirectX and OpenGL
  • Familiarity with network programming and communication protocols
  • Prior experience developing Windows Store applications.
  • Background in game development

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Masters or bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering or Computer Science

  • Austin, Texas
