About the department

 

AMD’s technology validation team is a group within our Technology Operations department.   The group is primarily located in central Texas but interfaces with support teams across the globe.  Members of the technology validation team are responsible for driving advanced technology evaluations to ensure successful AMD products launches.  The team delivers critical insight on yield, performance, and reliability.  The team is also responsible for evaluations of AMD’s proprietary IP.    The work done by the technology validation team paves the way for AMD’s product roadmap and ensures informed decision making by the executive team.  The team interfaces directly with all of AMD’s internal and external customers and suppliers.     The unique features of this team within AMD is it’s focus on end-to-end ownership of a project (Scope->Design->Test), a broad internal customer base, and emerging foundry technology.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The candidate would be responsible:

 

Translating a DTCO concern into design architecture

Development, maintenance, and enhancement of an RTL codebase

Using and enhancing FEINT design automation tools (Synth, Lint, Formality)

Developing and enhancing DFT methods (ATPG Scan Insertion, BIST, JTAG)

Working with physical design/layout team to improve STA/performance

Functional verification of the tiles using standard design verification tools (VCS)

Supporting debug, fault isolation, and failure analysis

Analyzing data and reporting results to internal and external customers

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

 

Candidate must have:

Minimum B.S in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent)

Minimum 3 years of experience in RTL/DFT Design

Strong working knowledge of Verilog/System-Verilog

Demonstrated experience with front-end design tools (simulators, synth, STA, etc…)

Working knowledge of verification tools (SnPS VCS, etc…)

Excellent scripting skills (Perl/Python, etc…)

Strong problem solving and debug skills

Must be an innovative team player willing to cross organizational boundaries

Basic statistics knowledge
