Sr. Semi-Custom SoC Power Engineer - 114946

 

The Work:

AMD’s Semi-Custom Business Unit is on the cutting edge of delivering the next gaming solution platforms.  Sony PlayStation?  How about XBOX?  Yea, that’s us.  We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Power attainment focused Systems Technical Engineer who has demonstrated hands on work in the hardware, software and firmware needed to deliver power optimized solutions.   This person will be a key technical contributor responsible for attaining our system level power goals.  Experience with SoC power management/architecture, features, and implementation, as well as develop positive relationships with program decision makers across our local and global organizations is critical.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

You will be responsible for delivering to product power goals via technical collaboration with multiple functions to enable and optimize system power management features for our Semi-Custom solutions.  You will have hands one involvement in unit testing, integration, optimization, and validation of all power management features.

  • Develop and execute power performance targets spanning multiple usage scenarios throughout the entire hardware and software full stack
  • Familiarity with and hardware power management policies, features, and tuning; including ACPI, C-States, and P-State
  • Provide feedback and improvement ideas to the various teams, including the power management architecture, IP, SoC, O/S, FW, and silicon enablement teams
  • Effective internal and external communicator, influencing and driving for results at various levels within AMD.
  • Technically mentor and grow junior engineers through hands on system work.
  • Participate complex power related debug activities across a diverse set of technical contributors to resolve issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver results on time and with quality.

 

Preferred Experience:

Prior hands-on, working knowledge of system architecture and power attainment on APU/CPU/GPU/SoC 

  • Experience in custom product development/validation with hardware platforms and software ecosystem
  • Debug experience in X86, ARM, GPU solutions preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrix, technical organization

 

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, Masters Degree preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant industry experience
