The Fire Suppression Design Engineer is responsible for the design of fire protection systems using site survey or supplied drawings.       

How you will do it  

You will design water based suppression systems, including Sprinklers, Dry Risers, Wet Risers, Hose Reels and Hydrants, including their water supplies. You will be required to manage day-to day design issues with clients, M&E design teams, Fire Consultants, Installers, Local Fire and Water authorities and Fire Insurers. 

The majority of our projects are in the South East area, on occasions however, you may be required to work outside of the region to work on site with our client’s design team. You will receive full training in the use of our in-house hydraulic calculation programme. 

What we look for  

Essential  

Fully conversant with LPC Rules BS EN 12845, BS 9251, NFPA and FM Global rules for all hazard classifications from conceptual design to completion.    

Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and if you also have 3D capabilities it would be a distinct advantage.                                                                     

Capable of producing computerized hydraulic calculations and associated drawings. 

A full UK driving license. 

Excellent organizational skills. 

Good written and verbal communication skills. 

Preferred 

It would be preferable, if you have passed some/all of the LPCB’s Design Competency Examinations (Basic, Intermediate & FHC).  

Experience in the use of Microsoft office will be advantageous. 

Design experience and knowledge of other types of fire suppression systems will be of real benefit.
