About this role

BT is going through a transformation – and data is at the heart. We’re simplifying our products, transforming our customer journeys, modernising our IT and networks and decommissioning legacy platforms. The Data & Analytics Enablement Tribe is underpinning this transformation by creating data as an asset – on par with our network, people and brands. The Tribe’s mission is to enable Value Stream tribes to access data and use data and analytics capabilities powerfully, by addressing the key challenges they face: feature-rich and scalable technologies; data availability and quality; the skills needed to make the most of it; and end to end governance. This is being achieved by a rapid migration to a new cloud based analytics platform on GCP. 

Key to this is ensuring that we continue to engender the trust of our customers and employees by ensuring that their data is used appropriately, has necessary controls applied based on data and security classifications and is accessed only by authorised users. This is particularly important as we migrate our current data analytics platforms to Google Cloud Provider (GCP). We must also be able to demonstrate that we can easily assess where their data is held and for what purpose and by which BT Legal Entity or vendors it is accessed. To achieve this, we wish to introduce a policy based architecture which is driven by meta data.

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Define a strategic architecture and roadmap for a meta-data/policy driven architecture for the enforcement and monitoring of the necessary privacy and security controls

• Provides technical leadership for the data landscaping and customer data handling squads.

• Provides architectural assurance of the data landscaping and customer data handling squads.

• Proactively engages with key stakeholders to understand the privacy/security controls that will be needed to ensure BT remains compliant with our customer, legal and regulatory data handling obligations.

• Assists the wider team with the definition & execution of governance framework

You'll have the following skills & experience

Solution/Information Architecture: strong solution architecture skills with specific experience in designing data / information centric solutions.

Data Privacy / Security: expert in the data privacy and security domain with clear understanding of the capabilities that will need to be delivered to meet all our data handling requirements. This includes a good appreciation of the regulatory framework in the UK and globally.

Google Cloud: understanding of how privacy/security controls can be delivered across the various Google native tools and BT’s analytics capabilities including Qlik and Tableau.

Stakeholder management: – ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring any proposed privacy/security architecture meets their needs. 

MANDATORY : privacy / security architecture 

MANDATORY : data privacy/security tooling from a variety of vendors

MANDATORY : Experience of designing privacy & security solutions for Google based, enterprise wide analytical platforms.
