Your new role

We're looking for an agile and experienced Accountant to join this amazing business on the next stage of their journey as they build on the progress made over the past few years. Your role sits in a broader commercial capacity and will be key in helping to drive the growth and development of the company.

As a financial controller, your main responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of monthly and annual consolidated and statutory financial statements

• Responsibility for accounting systems such as Xero Accounting, including treasury management

• Preparation and filing income tax, GST and other returns required by the Inland Revenue Department and ACC, in conjunction with our external accountants

• Managing payroll and financial administration staff

• Managing and reporting on financial matters to operational staff to maximise operational efficiencies and productivity

• Responsibility for internal financial control systems and risk management procedures

• Working closely with the General Manager, CEO and Business Unit Managers in managing and preparing budgets and forecasts

• Actively participate in monthly and annual strategic planning/forecasting/budgeting processes

• Provide full and accurate forecasting and budgeting proposals for the various business units

• Provide financial support and expertise as a financial business partner to the General Manager and Business Unit Managers on financial awareness and drivers relevant for their operations

• Develop best practice financial accounting and control procedures and continually review the process and procedures to maximise impact and efficiency Prepare capital reviews as required by the General Manager/CEO

• Oversight and management of accounts receivables and accounts payables

• Perform bank, balance sheet & GL reconciliations

• Maintain Fixed Assets Schedule

• Month end support including general, accrual and prepayments journals

• Oversight of the preparation and filing of IRD reports (PAYE, GST,FBT and etc)

• Producing and reviewing monthly management accounts and variance analysis, e.g. P&L, BS

• Cashflow forecasting

• System development, implementation and process improvement

What you'll need to succeed

• Sole charge month end reporting to balance sheet level
• Proficient Xero user
• Able to multi task and work under pressure
• A working understanding of Vend/Lightspeed and, Crystal Payroll software
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
• Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong costing and commercial skills
