The Microsoft Azure for Operators group leads the way in delivering cloud communication software for telecoms operators. With award winning solutions providing highly scalable and fault tolerant systems that run right in the core of over 1,000 telecoms networks, providing service to 100s of millions of end-users. 

Microsoft are continuing to grow the Azure for Operators business with engineering team growth in multiple locations across the UK, including Enfield (North London), Cambridge, Midlands and Edinburgh. 

Responsibilities

• Working in a team of engineers in one of the above-mentioned locations with some of the largest and most scalable services in the world with non-negotiable focus on performance, availability, reliability and consistency. 
• Working in a small team of architects with a mission to shape the technical evolution of the Azure for Operators product portfolio which serve millions of users around the world. 
• Investigating new technical areas and assess new technologies, such as open source projects. 
• Coming up with innovative, simple and elegant solutions to architectural problems, and drive their adoption. 
• Working closely with development teams, both local and remote, to understand their problems and influence their direction.  

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience. 
• Proficient system design and technical problem-solving skills. 
• Experience of developing high scale, distributed systems. 
• Passionate about high performant services, high availability, reliability and consistency. 

• Experience of working with open source projects. 
• Ideally knowledge of the cloud native ecosystem, including Kubernetes. 
• Confident, solution- and result oriented working style combined with constructive critical thinking and the ability to shape your own briefs.
