    Job Description

    About Lloyds Banking Group

We’re on a mission to build the bank of the future, and we need your help to do it. In Group Transformation we're redefining what a bank is from the inside out. Our technology, culture, and our mind-set’s changing to craft a true technology-led organisation.

    Our mission

Commercial Banking and Payments (CM&P) Lab is responsible for the new GEM platform which is made up of several clients facing channels used by clients to manage their day-to-day banking and run their businesses. The CM&P Lab is responsible for these channels, both in developing the functionality that we offer our clients and providing live support across the applications.

    Want to know more?

We build our own customer-facing applications, so you’ll be working alongside a Product Owner, to shape the vision and set direction for the engineering teams and lead technical delivery across the entire lifecycle, from idea to realisation of value to ensure we're building the right thing – and building the thing right!

We strive to understand the needs of the client, then design and develop solutions to meet these needs. You’ll own the development of engineering skills and ways of working for the future – alongside a challenging and exciting delivery agenda.

    About our team

Created at the start of 2020, we're Servicing Value Stream within Commercial Transformation, and our wider team covers some of the key journeys, propositions and channels that support our Commercial customers with their everyday banking needs. We're hugely proud of the relationships we hold with our clients and key partners as trusted delivery providers. This is key to our success.

Our culture brings together experienced, hardworking, people from a diverse group of backgrounds that enjoy a collaborative and innovative environment that supports flexible and agile working, always learning and improving ourselves and sharing knowledge.

    Here's where you'll make a difference:

Your contribution will be instrumental to our strategy of simplifying, modernising, and de-risking the Commercial technology landscape, enabling the Bank of the Future, and ultimately driving value for customers and shareholders. This is a key role at the financial heart of LBG, underpinning the long-term sustainability and integrity of the organisation.

You'll be dealing with senior stakeholders across our labs, demonstrating diligence, insight, and willingness to challenge. This is a leadership role, working alongside Lab Architects, Engineers and Product Owners, blending domain knowledge and deep technical expertise to coach cross-disciplinary feature teams to deliver high quality maintainable software.

    About our role

Our team is looing for two Engineering Leads, with one focusing on new development opportunities in development new applications such as mobile (CBO)and the other Engineering Lead will focus on maintaining extraordinary live production support safeguarding service for our customers and new development and services using SAP technology (GEM).

You’ll lead the development of engineering skills and ways of working for the future – alongside a challenging delivery agenda.

Additionally, you'll also aim to increase engineering efficiency, quality and release velocity whilst recruiting, retaining, and developing engineering talent within the Lab.

Fostering the right culture is key and you’ll aim to promote a “Fail Fast, Learn Faster” approach within your team, experimenting new ways of engineering, to act as a change agent for our engineering team culture. Embracing a test and learn approach, with a focus on learning and continuous improvement.

    Engineering Lead - Unattended Channels

We build our own customer-facing applications, so you’ll be working alongside a Product Owner, to shape the vision and set direction for the engineering teams and lead technical delivery across the entire lifecycle, from idea to realisation of value to ensure we're building the right thing. Your team will understand the needs of the client, then design and develop solutions to meet these needs.

Engineering Lead - Incident and Problem Management

You'll be responsible for the Incident and Problem Management Team which supports the GEM platform and developing the vision for your team by setting direction for the engineers. Your team will understand the needs of the client, providing support to minimise the impact of incidents by mitigating at pace, identifying root cause, and working with the delivery feature teams to implement permanent solutions. You'll promote a rapid response and safe and accurate approach to incident mitigation within your team, with a focus on continuous improvement.

As part of the Group's commitments because of ring-fencing legislation, Group colleagues based in the Islands are required to be exclusively dedicated to the non-ring-fenced bank and its subsidiaries. This means that Group colleagues who are based in the Islands would not be able to undertake roles for the Ring-Fenced Bank from their existing location and would need to consider relocation when applying for roles.

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain recover. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
