Microsoft Development Center Estonia, with Offices in Tallinn and Tartu, is part of the Experiences & Devices division within Microsoft and well known for its Skype history. Today, our focus is much broader, we are building the Intelligent Conversations & Communications Cloud (IC3) which powers communication services for millions of Microsoft customers around the world across products such as Skype, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Xbox, Windows, Azure and more.

IC3 platform is one of the largest Azure deployments worldwide and growing rapidly. We own many large-scale applications in Estonia: from real-time communications, engineering systems to commerce, payments, anti-fraud and SMS. Together with partner teams across Microsoft we build and run an intelligent fabric of communication services to empower every person and organization to achieve more.

Our Entitlement team in Estonia is owning all aspects of engineering and operations of our cloud infrastructure for providing SMS/PSTN call rating and entitlement capabilities to Skype, Microsoft Teams and Azure Communication Services products. The rapidly growing call/SMS volume and the number of teams and scenarios utilizing our services present a unique set of challenges for software engineering, architecture, operations and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Designing products and services that deliver value to the customer and meet the business objectives for Microsoft
• Delivering high quality code meeting technical requirements, such as scale, security, performance, global delivery and monitoring
• Taking responsibility, holding self and others accountable for goals, decisions and measured results
• Delivering on commitments and seeking increasingly challenging work to grow technical skills
• Being customer focused recognizing the issues that customers want to resolve and creating products and services to address customer needs
• Responding efficiently to changing demands and ambiguous situations maintaining constructive attitude in times of stress

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of OOP/OOD practices
• Proficiency in data structures and algorithms
• Experience in developing distributed systems in C#, Java or equivalent languages
• Experience in maintaining and operating production systems
• Understanding of microservice architecture and REST-based API design
• Experience with cloud service platforms is a plus
• Solid written and oral communication skills (English is a must)
• Ability to quickly learn in multiple technology areas
