The Corporate Digital & Applications team produces key strategic web and mobile applications for the BBC. Many of these are high profile, and involve senior stakeholders in areas like HR, the press office, News and programmes teams.

We're looking for a Javascript Developer to join the Corporate Digital & Applications team.

Role Responsibility

Your role will be creating the next generation of public facing websites about the BBC as well as internal webapps for staff use, all using responsive component-based designs.

You’ll be creating hyper-usable web applications that melt red tape and bureaucratic processes; this is the business end of “Digital Transformation.”

We expect you to have experience writing some combination of JS, Node, HTML, CSS and React and of using best-practice web development frameworks and standards.

The Ideal Candidate

Key Skills

• Experience creating front-end websites, with demonstrable knowledge of semantic HTML5, CSS3, and CSS pre-processors such as SCSS or LESS, as well as back-end serverless applications written in Node.
• Solid understanding of Javascript / ECMASctript based languages (ES6+ versions)
• Experience consuming data from and interacting with REST APIs.
• Experience of React Hooks, Functional components, and some knowledge of GraphQL
• Demonstrates a growth mindset and openness to change.
• Interest in modern web development tools, technologies, and techniques.

Desirable

• Understanding and Experience of AWS, including Lambdas and serverless setups.
• A desire to create a fully accessible web
