Job summary
Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Modernization team is responsible for enabling enterprise customers to run their workloads in the cloud. As a Software Development Engineer on the team you will take ownership over the software design, documentation, development, engineering approach, delivery and support of new tools and features to assist customers in modernizing their legacy applications. To succeed in this role, you will be familiar with the development and deployment of .NET-based applications in a Windows environment. You should be comfortable following modern object-oriented practices using test driven development. Ideal candidates will be strong developers who can prioritize well, develop at the highest standards in the industry, deal with ambiguous and non explored problem domains, and have a consistent track record of delivery.


Key job responsibilities

  • Writing high quality .NET code for product initiatives and feature development
  • Working closely with product and development management to design software products and tools
  • Understand what's important when releasing software to end users and have been through the process from start to finish
  • Being a champion for operational excellence by insisting on the Highest Standards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar (or equivalent working experience)
  • Experience of .NET, C# and Windows development in general
  • Proficiency in computer science fundamentals – data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design
  • Able to debug, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues reported by internal or external customers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with scripting and automation using Python and/or PowerShell
  • Strong desire to build, deliver results, take ownership, and drive projects
  • Be a self-starter and motivated to take ownership of projects and drive tasks to completion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
