What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

Graphics Driver Development Engineer

The Role:

You will be part of RTG (Radeon Technologies Group) graphics driver software engineering team, working close to the GPU Hardware and kernel mode driver teams on multiple high-performance graphics APIs for AMD's market leading GPU and APU technology. The team is responsible for delivering drivers for multiple 3D graphics APIs (Direct3D, Vulkan) on multiple OSes (Windows, Linux, Android) for the Radeon family of GPUs. You will develop these drivers focusing on SW design, coding new features, analyzing performance bottlenecks, debugging and fixing issues and influencing the overall design for performance.

The person:

We are looking for a motivated engineer with strong expertise in software engineering, GPU technologies and great communication skills. Inside AMD, you will collaborate with partners from different component teams to develop and deliver software drivers for AMD’s GPU/APU products. Together we will ignite the power and potential of AMD's world class GPUs. If you are passionate about code design, code quality, and high performance, if you thrive in a fast-paced continuous learning environment and appreciate a challenge, come join our team!

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop 3D drivers for existing and upcoming Radeon GPUs.
  • Debug challenging low-level driver, hardware and OS issues.
  • Optimize performance of important 3D graphics content, especially AAA PC games.
  • Participate in a team culture that values open communication and strong commitment to code quality.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects, OS architects, OEM customers, game developers and the open-source community.

Preferred experience:

  • Strong low-level C/C++ programming skills and coding for fast execution
  • Strong problem solving and performance analysis skills
  • General familiarity with PC architecture
  • Strong communication skills

Academic credentials:

  • BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
