Role: Technical Manager, Partnerships and Capacity Building / Social Impact
Purpose of role: Shape and support delivery of effective and impactful Human Rights Due Diligence and the Primark Cares People Pillar across the Primark Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:
- Create Thematic Workplans covering 4 to 5 of the following social sustainability issues (Social Protection; Financial Inclusion; Skills Development; Gender Based Violence and Harassment; Unpaid Care Work; Workplace Representation/Freedom of Association; Grievance Mechanisms; Mental and Physical Health). Facilitate appropriate integration and alignment between all thematic workplans, working with other Thematic Leads as appropriate.
- Ensure Thematic Workplans:
- are aligned to the agreed values and objectives of the team.
- follow the required template and are regularly updated.
- have clear objectives embedded in corporate objectives, targets and expectations – including Primark Cares and any external mandatory reporting requirements.
- are aligned to key international frameworks and conventions (UNGPs, ILO etc).
- are cross-referenced with each other as required.
- support cross-cutting issues such as gender and any agreed approach to vulnerable workers.
- include coverage of the PSCP as required.
- adequately integrate and align with the audit/monitoring programme (including remediation) to ensure a consistent and comprehensive approach to each thematic area across the Primark ET team.
- Identify, secure and mange external support/partnerships necessary to support development of the Thematic Workplan(s).
- Work closely with the Primark Cares team and Head of Social Impact Measurement to support the selection, management and reporting of progress against KPIs related to each Thematic Workplan.
- Identify appropriate opportunities for external engagement to share learning/communicate our approach.
- Understand how key competitors and external stakeholders approach the thematic issues and use this knowledge to inform development of the workplan.
- Facilitate and support the Cross-Team Thematic Working Groups in accordance with the agreed protocol.
Workplan Delivery Support:
- Provide ongoing and regular remediation, programme, project and partnership support to country teams in relevant thematic areas. This may include support across any part of the programme/partnership management cycle.
- Identify and address key capacity gaps on thematic issues across the wider ET/ES team and business.
- Actively manage, mitigate and communicate risk across each Thematic Workplan.
- Identify opportunities for global partnerships, projects and programmes in order to progress delivery of the thematic workplans.
- Support efforts to build supplier engagement and ownership across the thematic workplans.
- Capacity Building / Learning and Development
- Input into the development of the Global Teams annual L&D workplan to support strengthened capacity to design and deliver effective and impactful programmes and partnerships across the global portfolio in the relevant thematic areas.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of these activities and use it to inform learning and further development.
- Design and deliver capacity building / skills development support directly as appropriate.
- Identify external partners/expertise to support delivery of specific L&D priorities and manage those relationships.
- Liaise with, and support, the Primark Cares team on any wider business L&D priorities and activities related to the relevant areas of the Primark Cares People Pillar.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Build close working relationships within the ET/ES team (in-country and HQ), Primark Cares team and wider business.
- Regular reporting and discussion of progress across the thematic workplans with Head, Partnerships and Capacity Building; actively contribute to discussions on strategy and ongoing team development.
- Feed into Primark Cares reporting requirements as required.
- Craft narratives of Primark’s approach across relevant thematic areas for internal and external comms and reporting; integrating a narrative with both qualitative and quantitative data for effective communication.
- Support country teams to prepare, and quality assure, comms materials for wider internal and external communication.
- Support awareness and understanding of the work of the Partnerships and Capacity Building team, and Primark Cares People Pillar across the business.
Knowledge & Experience
- Human rights due diligence in global supply chains, preferably garments.
- Project management in complex contexts.
