SoC Power Architect - 81061

 

The role:

Do you live for driving power feature enablement?

We are looking for a hardworking and dedicated member to join the SOC Power Architecture team in the AMD Client Computing and Graphics group. You will work on the critically acclaimed AMD Ryzen processors engaging in System on Chip and IP power architecture exploration, modeling, and analysis of PC workloads.

 

The person:

We need a person who is independent, curious, and motivated. This person should enjoy exploring power topics and working across different teams to deliver the best possible performance while providing strong organization and interpersonal skills

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Work across AMD and with client SoC architects to utilize the company’s power management feature set to build an efficient Ryzen processor solution
  • Work with SOC and IP Architects to understand the design and power architecture, to ensure features of interest are accurately implemented and effectively architected
  • Construct an SOC power model within AMD modeling framework that is uniquely tailored for AMD Ryzen specific requirements
  • Analyze power modeling results and use these to drive design teams towards standard methodologies for reducing power
  • Conduct power modeling simulations using RTL netlists for customer specific applications and workloads using AMD’s power modeling environment
  • Collaborate with power management firmware architects optimize firmware routines and optimize system power and performance
  • Optimize PC use cases in terms of absolute power and also in relative performance per watt

 

Preferred experience:

  • Good understanding of CPU, GPU, IO, and computer system architecture
  • Solid understanding of device physics, related to power dissipation
  • Working experience of UNIX/Linux operating systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with VCS-NLP simulations, Primetime PX, Power Artist, or similar EDA power simulation tool
  • Exposure to UPF power intent
  • Exposure to Platform power measurement

 

Academic credentials:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Computer architecture, or Computer Science
  • Master's preferred
  • Recent PhD degree graduates with tried experience on a product team will be considered
