Senior level PC Board Design Engineer 

The Role:

AMD Data Center and Embedded team is looking for an MTS PCB Designer for PCB Layout and Tool Development in Server and compute environments. In this role, you will deliver High Speed PCB Design projects that advance AMD’s products beyond the state of the art. You will be responsible for driving the development of tools used for the review of PCB ASIC rules along with specialized routing strategies for advanced IP.  In this role, you will work with other PCB designers, Signal Integrity teams and software tool development teams to support our PCBCAD SI rule distribution tools. the candidate should have a strong understanding of high-speed PCB design rules, in depth knowledge of Cadence constraint management systems. Although software skills are not required a strong understanding of Cadence skill language would be beneficial

The person:

AMD Data Center and Embedded division’s PCB research and technology direction is essential to our company’s future. You should be at a senior level of your PCB Design experience, looking for something more challenging where you get to help other designers meet their goals and ensure the highest level of design rule adherence. A successful candidate will have the drive to work with a team to create next-generation PCB Design rules, distribution and checking tools; a strong background in High-Speed PCB Design, Allegro CM and understanding of PCB SI rules and manufacturing is critical for this role

Key responsibilities:

• High-Speed PCB Design development
• Developing rule sets around ASIC ball-outs
• Develop routing strategies and rules for new IP including, PCIe, DP, Memory, XGMI
• Develop rules and tools for ensuring all SI requirements are met, maximizing the use of the Allegro CM
• Strategizing on rule requirements with a variety of teams including, SI, EMI, PI, Thermal and Mechanical
• Development of manufacturing design rules
• Aiding in the development of New Tools and Processes
• Ensuring rules are achievable from a PCB layout and manufacturing perspective

Preferred experience:

• Proven track record of successful PCB Layout Design
• Strong Manual routing experience
• Strong skills in Cadence Allegro 17.x design suite
• In-depth knowledge of Allegro Constraint Manager
• High-Speed signals in high-density designs
• Impedance control
• Stackup creation
• High-Speed material selection
• Experience with utilities written in Skill
• Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes
• Good interpersonal skills

Secondary experience:

• Skill Language scripting
• Pearl, C, C++ or similar for script development
• Valor and Valor ERF development
• CAM350

Academic credentials:

• B. Sc. in Electrical/Computer Engineering
• MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred
