The Infrastructure and Cloud team is part of Content Technology and Innovation at Sky, responsible for the support, planning and development of our Production Platforms that host our content production and delivery applications. As part of our ongoing strategy we are transforming the way that we deliver and require a Senior SRE at this exciting time on our journey.

What you’ll do:

• Drive technical excellence in everything we do and foster a culture around data driven reliability, monitoring and automation following SRE principles
• Contribute to and lead new designs, architectures and standards for large-scale distributed systems spanning multiple territories and regions
• Work on high performance automation including using Terraform, Ansible and Puppet, enhancing and supporting a build framework for continuous deployment and platform automation
• Mentoring engineers both SRE and developers to help them design the right solutions and promote a culture of reliability and automation.
• Work on incident resolution and engage various team including 3rd parties for support escalation. Facilitate the investigation and ensure incidents are reviewed and document the findings to enable informed decision-making and boost service reliability.

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience of infrastructure planning and working with development teams to enable high availability of services.
• Programming and scripting to a production level including testing (Python and Bash).
• The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels with great verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate at both a technical and non-technical level
• Awareness of app and web development technologies, techniques and practices in a fast paced work environment.
• Expertise in Amazon AWS Cloud Administration and/or Google Cloud.
• Experience of some of the following infrastructure tools:
– Linux System Administration (RedHat/Ubuntu/Centos)
– Cloud Platforms – deploying and automation (AWS/GCP)
– Networking (LB/Routing/Switching)
– Databases – (SQL/NoSQL). Scripting/ System-Programming – (Python/Bash)
– Configuration management – (Ansible/ Puppet/ Terraform)
– CI/CD (Jenkins/ Concourse/ gitlab-ci)
– Virtualisation (VMWare)
