Silicon Support Team Engineer
THE ROLE:
AMD is searching for a Silicon Support Engineer to join a highly visible and influential team of physical interface experts concentrated on the integration and support of SERDES interfaces across the spectrum of AMD products. The team works across a large swath of AMD teams as well as with IP vendors and AMD customers and is instrumental in the delivery of leading-edge, high-speed interface capabilities.

The ideal candidate is motivated by participating in a broad range of AMD’s business. The candidate will enjoy working with technical people across a variety of AMD design and test teams, as well as IP vendor and possibly AMD customer teams, and thinks of himself/herself as a problem solver.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide systems engineering and post-silicon support for SerDes interface IP
New product bring-up support from first-silicon in the lab through initial production
Triage observations from silicon validation, and help debug issues with ATE, Platform, Firmware, and characterization/compliance teams
Provide expertise and support in silicon design, process and integration flows for SerDes Interface IP
Pre-Silicon engagement with internal and external PHY design teams, Platform, ATE, IP design, and Firmware teams.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and pronounced attention to details
Good teamwork and communications skills
Experience in the semiconductor industry doing analog mixed-signal circuit design and/or test and debug, especially in the area of wireline communications
High-speed I/O SerDes design knowledge, e.g. understanding of CDR, PLL/DLL, driver, receiver, VREG architectures and circuits
Working knowledge of signal and power integrity, as well as package/PCB design
Familiarity with wireline data communications standards for PCIe, USB, Ethernet, etc.
Basic understanding of Verilog RTL, digital circuits, as well as a general knowledge of the backend implementation and physical IC design flow
Familiarity with the range of design areas and tools, (HSPICE, PrimeTime, etc.) and understanding of design/technology interactions
Python and/or Perl programming desirable. Should be familiar with UNIX environment.
Laboratory experience and/or understanding of usage of equipment such as oscilloscopes, JBERTs, protocol analyzers, etc.
