Job Description

What you do at AMD changes everything

At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.

Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.

The Role:

AMD's strategic focus is on developing one-of-a-kind solutions through its Semi-Custom Business Unit (SCBU) based on the extensive set of intellectual property (IP) amassed across AMD processors, graphics and multimedia.

Providing to customers a level of flexibility and differentiation that goes beyond standard AMD products, our business unit takes AMD to a new level of customer-centric design by integrating these building blocks with customer-specific IP to build tailor-made solutions using a flexible System-on-a-Chip (SoC) design methodology.

Our business unit features a strong team of engineers who have design wins in all major gaming consoles. They are exceptional specialists in graphics and compute processing. The PlayStation 4 (PS4) from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI), the Xbox One from Microsoft are some examples of AMD's Semi-Custom solutions.

The Semi-Custom Business Unit (SCBU) has a career making opportunity for a Silicon Design Engineer-2!

The Person:

  • Is highly motivated, hard-working, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Is a self-starter who wants to be challenged technically and thrives in a team environment.
  • Has the ability to work with multi-level functional teams across various geographies.
  • Has superior problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on APU based SoC level verification
  • Will work on development power management/estimation, measurement, and correlation.
  • Will need to work on the test-plans
  • Will develop C/C++ tests and ASM tests for power management modes
  • Connect with many other teams, like related IP and SoC architecture teams

Preferred Experience:

  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with C/C++, System Verilog, and UVM
  • Experience with assembly programming languages
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize and balance multiple work streams while working to meet and exceed goals

Academic Credentials:

  • BS/MS/PhD in EE/CS
