Next Generation Micro-Processor RTL Design Engineer
THE ROLE:
Do you want to be at the forefront of designing the next Ryzen, Threadripper or Epyc CPU? AMD is seeking an experienced and creative processor designer to design and develop microarchitecture for the core IP in our next-generation processor. A thorough understanding of microprocessor architecture and design is desired.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in the Definition of Micro Architecture of Next Generation High Performance Processor Cores
• Work with a team of hardware and software engineers to define the high-level architecture
• Collaborate with the Physical Design Team to achieve high frequency and low power while utilizing the latest cutting edge fabrication technologies
• Contribute to Design Verification of complex algorithms to achieve high IPC, and the latest in virtualization, security, and ISA extensions
• Contribute to Design for Test (DFT) RTL design to meet the highests standards of cloud and embedded computing.
• Deliver high quality products on schedule while working with engineers that act as one team.
Required experience:
• Master level experience in High-Performance Microprocessor Design
• Experience must include a strong level of experience in Verilog RTL Development with industry tools in a CPU, GPU or devices of similar complexity environment
Demonstrates expertise in the following:
• Register Transfer Level (RTL) coding for high speed designs
• Logic design
• Exposure to Verification methods
• Experience with Physical Design, Synthesis, Place and Route, and Timing closure
• Problem Solving and Debugging Skills
• Excellent Communication and Documentation Skills
Preferred Experience
• Background in other aspects of digital semiconductor implementation, especially with Synthesis and Static Timing Analysis
• Knowledge of Microprocessor Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) logic and issues
• Clocking, Reset, Power Up Sequences and Power Management
• Experience with x86 Architecture (ISA) is desired but not required
• Comfort with Scripting such as Ruby, Perl, Shell and TCL is a plus
