Barnardo's Innovation Lab is growing and we're currently recruiting two service designers to help us work on new projects in the areas of health and social care.
The Innovation Lab is a small and dedicated team of service designers, researchers, product delivery specialists and developers. We work in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative way, supporting teams and colleagues in Children's Services and throughout the organisation to uncover, test and develop innovative ideas and practices so Barnardo's can meet the challenges of modern society and create better outcomes for more children.
As a service designer in the Innovation Lab team, you will be expected to apply design thinking and approaches to create either aspects of, or a complete journey of a service - you will use evidence-based and human-centred approaches to do this and you will work directly with children and young people to co-design solutions that work for them. You will also work directly with colleagues from across Barnardo's to ensure that everything we do aligns with the Barnardo's Corporate Strategy.
The work will involve developing online, offline and blended approaches, depending on the user need. The output could be developing aspects of a service, laying the foundations for a product, enabling an ecosystem for systems change within a specific location or contributing to the teams' Insights Library.
This is a great opportunity to make a significant difference in the health and social care sector, working to enhance services and experiences for children, young people, their families, as well as those who are delivering these services.
We work transparently and in the open in a highly collaborative way. Our team is tight-knit and incredibly supportive of each other, and everyone contributes to this team culture.
The salary range is £35,608 - £45,282 per annum.
Diversity and representation are extremely important to us and we are committed to applicants from a range of backgrounds - including race, class, ethnicity, disability, gender and sexual orientation.
When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.
